What balance problems can I treat with damper changes?

What should I do in each case?

 

1- I have understeer as I hit the brakes and turn into corners:

Answer: Decrease your front bound values or increase your rear rebound values.

 

2- I have oversteer as I hit the brakes and turn into corners:

Answer: Increase your front bound values or decrease your rear rebound values.

 

3- I have understeer as I get back on the throttle:

Answer: Increase your rear bound values or decrease your front rebound values

 

4- I have oversteer as I get back on the throttle:

Answer: Decrease your rear bound values or increase your front rebound values.

 

5- When I hit bumps and kerbs the front of my car tends to bounce and skate wide.

Answer: Decrease your front fast bound values. Can be complemented by decreasing front fast rebound.

 

6- When I hit bumps and kerbs my car tends to change direction and react erratically.

Answer: Increase your front fast bump values. Can be complemented by increasing front fast rebound.

  • INSTRUCTIONS FOR JACK SPADE CUSTOM FFB (Force Feedback) SETUPS This posting contents 6 different custom files which are based on RAW at 2 stages of game/FFB development, these are global files NOT individual car setups Standard files - with artificial road noise, moderate bumps/kerbs/grass response (severely more than the SMS 4 custom preset) Alternative files - no artificial road noise, more bumps/kerbs/grass response An important feature of these files are the Compressor settings and the old PC1 Relative Gain stuff, which better balances the forces at all turning angles and driving scenarios and to a certain extent the different types of cars. FFB basically is free of clipping. In PC2 now the compressor works just like the ones in the audio world, severely improves the old Soft Clip. The files: 1. standard low comp. 2. standard mid comp. 3. standard high comp. 4. alternative low comp. 5. alternative mid comp. 6. alternative high comp. Suggested FFB setting: Gain 100, Volume 50, Tone 50, FX 50 ( FX to taste, lower with alternative file) FFB is directly derived from physics, there´s no special feature to emphasize over or understeer. Tone - more or less balances Mz/Fy and generally should stay at default 50. FX - controls the level of bumps, kerbs, grass, scrub and road noise, level to taste. Gain - always at 100, use Volume to adjust the global FFB level to taste. Checking different files requires restart of the game each time an other file is activated or/and edited, session restart is not enough. HOW TO USE. Open File Explorer then go to "This PC" on the left hand side Then click "Documents" also on the left hand side Then open the "Project CARS 2" folder Now delete the "ffb-custom-settings.txt" and replace with "one" of the 6 files provided ffb_custom_settings - alt hi comp.txt ffb_custom_settings - alt lo comp.txt ffb_custom_settings - alt mid comp.txt ffb_custom_settings - stan hi comp.txt ffb_custom_settings - stan lo comp.txt ffb_custom_settings - stan mid comp.txt now rename the file to "ffb-custom-settings.txt" therefore deleting the second half of the file name e.g you paste "ffb_custom_settings - alt hi comp.txt" rename to "ffb_custom_settings.txt" Now load the game, click the "OPTIONS" tab then click "CONTROLS" Click the "FORCE FEEDBACK" tab now change the 1st option "Flavour" to "Custom" Happy Racing ()))BENO)))~~*

  • Step 1 - Go out for a lap and evaluate what is the condition of track (smooth, or bumpy) having this information, fully lower the ride height until the car’s floor hits the ground, then you will have to adjust the ride height until it doesn’t hit the ground anymore. Do not touch it again. If you may need to re-calibrate the hardness of springs and fast rebound dampers as necessary, including the camber angle. Step 2 - Once you have the car height set, then putting the suspension bump stops in ZERO. Set the springs, as hard as possible considering that the rear axle is always softer. Go out and test on the track. Step 3 - Then the sway bars, if you want the car to handle with a pointing front, set sway bars to hard as possible. The idea is to look for a balance by achieving a perfect curve approach while minimize front tire wear. Keep in mind that the sway bars keep the balance of the weight transfer between the wheels of the same axle. Step 4 - The differential has 4 aspects that can modify the handling A – Acceleration lock: It only acts when we step on the accelerator. A higher the percentage gives more power to the outer wheel to get the car to complete turn at the exit. B - Deceleration lock: It only acts when the throttle is released. A higher percentage gives more lock to the inner wheel to facilitate cornering in the entry. C- Preload: the differential preload parameter tells you how abrupt the differential will do the transition from one state to another (acceleration-deceleration) Step 5 - Shock/Dampers compression and expansion notes: The extension/rebound is always harder than the compression/bound . The slow compression/bound and slow extension/rebound are always harder than the fast compression/bound and fast extension/rebound. Setting high values of extension/rebound and compression/bound will give less grip, less tire wear and quick response to change of direction. Other hand, setting low values of extension/rebound and compression/bound will give more grip, more tire wear and a slow response to change of direction.
